A Legacy of Innovation: Pioneers in Fiberglass Pools

Our journey into the world of swimming pools began with a groundbreaking invention the Easy Glass System. This ingenious system would lay the foundation for the concept of one-piece fiberglass pools, revolutionizing the swimming pool industry in the United States. Tallman Pools emerged as one of the trailblazers, leading the charge in custom, one-piece fiberglass pool manufacturing across the nation. Today, we proudly stand as one of the largest manufacturers, serving customers throughout the Southeast.

The Tallman Pools story began over six decades ago, founded by Ellsworth Tallman. Starting as a small residential pool builder in upstate New York, he operated his business right from the comfort of his home. However, his vision and dedication quickly led to expansion.

By the end of the 1960s, he had established his own factory and ventured into manufacturing steel walls, vinyl liners, and even steps. His pool kits were distributed from New York all the way to Texas and Florida, marking the beginning of our widespread influence.

In the mid-1970s, Ellsworth decided to take his expertise to Georgia, where he opened a factory in Jonesboro, a place that remains home to our family-owned business to this day. The product range continued to evolve, encompassing not only vinyl liner pool kits but also acrylic spas and slides.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Ellsworth Tallman introduced a groundbreaking innovation the Easy Glass System. This innovative method involved fiberglassing the steel or wood walls of traditional vinyl liner and gunite pools. His vision was to create a pool that would far outlast the traditional alternatives. This pioneering spirit led to the development of fiberglass walls, opening the door to the concept of one-piece fiberglass pools.

Ellsworth also pioneered the Assisted Installation Direct-to-Homeowner program, a groundbreaking concept that set Tallman Pools apart from others in the industry. No other manufacturer had ventured into this territory at the time.

By the mid-1980s, Tallman Pools was already producing one-piece fiberglass pools, marking a significant shift from liner pools. Ellsworth Tallman was convinced that fiberglass was the future of the industry. This was driven by two primary factors: it was less labor-intensive and offered better quality control, thanks to its factory-based production.

Throughout the journey, Ellsworth's commitment to innovation and product excellence never wavered. In the mid-1990s, he expanded our operations to New Jersey and, in the early 2000s, to Texas, further solidifying our presence in the industry.

Ellsworth Tallman's love for one-piece fiberglass pools was unwavering. He believed in creating a product that was not only superior but also efficient to produce. Above all, he cherished the quality control that factory-based manufacturing offered. From the beginning, he pursued a vision of creating a better product, continuously striving to set new industry standards. Today, Tallman Pools continues this legacy of innovation, genuinely dedicated to providing our customers with the very best fiberglass pools.
