Installation Requirements

Tallman Pools dealers must adhere to the installation requirements found in the current version of Installation Requirements found on the Tallman Pools Dealer Portal to qualify for a warranty on the fiberglass pool shell. Homeowners utilizing our Assisted Installation Program must follow the instructions on the documents sent. Additionally, specific photographs must accompany the warranty registration, unless your pool was installed by Tallman Pools. The following clarifies the steps required during the installation process. It's essential to register warranties within 60 days of installation.

Step 1: Lifting Equipment

The equipment used for offloading the pool, such as a boom truck, crane, or excavator, must have the capability to lift the pool's weight from a vertical distance of 22' to 30' from the ground to the attachment point above the center of the pool. These distances vary depending on the pool's size, the type of trailer used for delivery, and the number of pools on the load.

Tallman Pools mandates that all pools be lifted with four 30-foot lifting straps, each with a lifting capacity of at least 1500 pounds. While our pools are robust, they should always be lifted using a spreader bar with a single piece of equipment and a guide rope. One end of each lifting strap must attach to the chains located on the pool's four corners, supported by the extra mounds of stitch mat. The other end of the lifting straps should connect to the lifting bar on the crane or lifting equipment. Warranty claims will be voided if a pool is lifted with two machines, one at each end.

Step 2: Water Inspection Port

(PICTURE REQUIRED FOR WARRANTY REGISTRATION)

Install a minimum 8-inch diameter PVC pipe in the pool's deep end, perforating the bottom 2-feet to 4-feet of the pipe. This pipe allows visual inspection of the stone in the deep end for any standing water. If water removal is necessary, a submersible pump can easily accomplish it. Finish the top of the pipe with a skimmer lid.

Step 3: Hole

Provide a photo of the excavation hole with a stone base. Ensure that the stone base or foundation is plate-tamped for proper compaction.

Step 4: Backfill Material

We recommend using 1/2" or smaller clean gravel for backfill around the pool and beneath all steps and tanning ledges. A photo documenting the backfilling process is essential to activate the warranty. Once approximately 12 inches of water is in the pool, and backfilling is evenly placed, maintain a consistent +/- 12-inch proximity between the backfill and water level.

Step 5: Rebar in Concrete Beam

Regardless of stone or concrete cantilever or decking around the pool, a concrete beam must be installed. A photo displaying the bond beam around the pool is necessary to validate the warranty. Failure to include a concrete beam will result in a voided warranty.

Step 6: Cantilever Coping (PICTURE REQUIRED FOR WARRANTY REGISTRATION)

All pools must feature the top of the fiberglass pool coping covered with either stone or concrete cantilever. An exposed coping will exclude the coping from the warranty.

Step 7: Completed Installation

Provide a photograph of the completed installation for warranty registration. A completed installation includes a minimum of 3 feet of concrete or patio surrounding the pool on all sides.
