Water Inspection Port

Monitor water accumulation

Small Detail with Lasting Benefits

A water inspection port may seem like a small detail, but it plays a vital role in protecting your fiberglass pool investment. Easy to install and highly practical, this essential feature allows for effortless monitoring and management of groundwater beneath the pool shell. By incorporating a water inspection port, you can proactively safeguard your pool against potential hydrostatic pressure, ensuring its structural integrity and longevity for years to come. At Tallman Pools, we’re dedicated to helping you get the most out of your investment, which is why we require a water inspection port on every pool—regardless of the water table at the time of installation. It’s a simple yet powerful solution for long-term peace of mind.

To Install this port you will need the following:

  • Between 7 to 9 feet of 8″ solid Rigid PVC pipe. The length will depend on the depth of the pool being installed.
  • Additional skimmer lid and skimmer lid base.

Installation Process:

  • Drill multiple holes (20-30) 1-foot from the bottom of the pipe.
  • Place the 8″ pipe vertically beside the pool in the deep end with the holes towards the bottom.
  • The pipe should extend up approximately 6″ higher than the top edge of the pool hole.
  • The pipe should be stubbed up approximately 8″ outside the edge of where the POOL COPING will be.
  • The top of the pipe should be cut prior to the deck being poured to ensure that the top of the lid will be flush with the level of the decking.
  • The additional skimmer lid will cover the pipe opening and look identical to the actual pool skimmer lid.

* Water inspection port is required for warranty compliance.
