💡 How to Replace Underwater Pool Light Bulbs
Like any other lights, underwater bulbs can burn out over time. While the replacement process might seem intimidating, the right tools and step-by-step guidance can make it straightforward. Although we recommend hiring an electrician or a professional pool service technician for the job, if you choose to do it yourself, follow the guide below.
There are two types of underwater lights, although many brands produce them
- Non-Niche Lights: These lights are smaller and fit into a standard wall fitting.
- Niched Lights: These are larger and housed in a built-in “bucket” (niche) in the pool wall.
Knowing the exact brand of light in your pool is crucial. Verify details on your invoice or reach out to your pool builder. Confirm you have the appropriate replacement bulb or LED module before starting. Using the wrong type can cause damage such as immediate light failure, overheating, electrical hazards, or voided warranties. An incompatible bulb or module may also lead to leaks, poor sealing, or damage to the fixture’s wiring and components. Therefore, it’s vital to use the correct replacement and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure safety and longevity.
